If you’re a big Drake or Rihanna fan, chances are you’ve heard Jahron Anthony Brathwaite, AKA, PARTYNEXTDOOR. And with 150 million plays on his second album, PARTYNEXTDOOR 3, you’re not the only one. He’s been on Drake’s label, OVO Sound, since 2013 and has collaborated with Drake, Big Sean, and Jeremih, just to name a few. Arguably more important is PARTYNEXTDOOR’s writing chops (and maybe why he seems to be the #1 push at Warner). At only 23, he is no newbie when it comes to writing songs that hit the charts and has been Drake’s secret weapon singer/producer/songwriter for years. He famously wrote Rihanna’s “Work” off her 2016 album, Anti and got huge praise for it, along with Drake’s hits “Preach”, “Legend”, “Wednesday Night Interlude” and “With You”. He has been very elusive (only 1 interview until this album which was a FADER cover story) and is only now stepping into the spotlight despite having huge hits.
Last time PARTYNEXTDOOR was in Texas he was featured as a special guest during Drake’s tour in Houston. Prior to that he was showcased at Scoremore’s JMBLYA festival in New Braunfels in 2015. Despite more than a couple Texas appearances, this Saturday will be his first time stopping in the River City. Be prepared for an OVO Sound takeover, San Antonio. PARTYNEXTDOOR will be downtown at the Aztec Theatre this Saturday, December 3rd. Prime your pipes to sing along to favorite “Drizzy” features (“Come & See Me” and “Recognize”) as well as PARTYNEXTDOOR’s new hit single “Not Nice.”
But wait, there’s more. This Saturday just gets better for hip-hop fans – Jeremih will be joining PARTYNEXTDOOR. Everyone knows 2009’s “Birthday Sex” as well as “My Ride.” My personal favorite is his “Put It Down On Me” 50 Cent hit. Jeremih has cultivated plenty of fans in his near decade long career and it seems that the 29 year old shows no signs of slowing down. He couldn’t stay away from the Alamo City; this will be his second time at the Aztec this year.
I’m predicting the mood this Saturday: sexy on sexy. PARTYNEXTDOOR and Jeremih are without a doubt on many “baby makin’ music” playlists. This is definitely a show you should bring your partner to, or be prepared to show up and find a [dance] partner. Put on your bump n grind garb, San Antonio – there is no dance party like a “PartyNextDoor” & OVO Sound party! Come experience it for yourself this Saturday at Aztec. Get tix here.
