One of the great things about celebrating local music for an entire week is the media coverage it demands. Musicians, promoters, venue managers and other industry professionals know how hard it is to get earned media - however, when the community comes together the movement begins to demand attention.
Our editor Stephanie Northcutt wrote a preview for WOAI’s The Garage, which will be covering Local Music Week throughout its entirety.
Jorge and Erica from Local 782 made an appearance on Great Day SA to explain a little about LMW and the state of San Antonio’s music scene. Bad Breaks also gave a live performance in the Kens 5 studios.
Good Job Texas is covering the festivities all week and streaming local music around the clock.
If you’re wondering how to get involved in LMW and San Antonio’s music scene in general, mark you calendars for this Thursday - Studio 1400 is hosting a mixer that is free and open to the public. Have fun tonight!

Day 2 of Local Music Week is upon us. Yesterday we shared our thoughts on what LMW2012 can mean for our local scene. Growing our audience means expanding the opportunities for artists and businesses to organize valuable and rewarding events that showcase our city’s creative potential.
The most important aspect of these efforts is the place the movement has in the viral and popular consciousness of SATX and the music industry in general. We want to uplift our artists at the same time that we promote our venues as desirable attractions to entertainment and culture patrons. All week, SATX Music will be sharing an updated list of shows - including a few features on local artists and venues. Make sure to Like us on Facebook to stay in the loop, and tell your friends about this year’s Local Music Week!

Get that refund check cashed in right away because there are a ton of live shows to catch this weekend! Unfortunately, we’ll be saying farewell to two of the scene’s most-loved bands: The Hooch and Saturday Night Satellites.
The good news is that you can be there to see their final performances. Be a part of history and buy the band a shot! Or two? It’s the weekend and we’re not counting…
If you have yet to see the San Antonio Current’s Music Poll results, check them out (online or on newsstands locally until Wednesday) so you can brag to your friends by showing them your vote DID count!
We are honored to be awarded second-place in the Local Music Blog category (…seriously, hooray!), but next year we’re coming for that #1 spot.
Congrats to our brothers and sisters at Good Job Texas for winning Best Radio Show - they put in a lot of work to bring you the best local, unsigned artists across multiple platforms.
March was fun and all, but we’re ready to bring on April and San Antonio’s Local Music Week. If you still want to get involved or have any questions about the week’s special events, don’t hesitate to get in touch with the friendly team of host-organization Local782.
We also have a killer lineup planned for Thurs., April 10 at The Limelight that you won’t want to miss. It’s FREE for 21+ featuring Education, The Dig, Equals and Poltics @ The Limelight. We can’t wait!
A great man once said: If you don’t know, now you know. Get your game face on and have a great weekend. ¡Viva la música!

Hey SA! Hope you had a great weekend accompanied by the soundtrack of San Antonio’s vibrant local music scene. We’d love to see and hear about which shows you checked out and how they went… let us know!
SATX Music had a great time at The Lost Project’s CD release on Friday at Hi-Tones. Below, read an excerpt of the show review written by Libby Day. Click here to read more about how the night went down.
I walked into Hi-Tones at 10:45 p.m. and had to double-check my watch – am I late? The floor was cleared of its usual tables and chairs, and people filled the space instead. I was right on time for The Lost Project’s CD release show, and so was everybody else.
[…]
Dance, punk, ska, indie, soul, jazz, reggae, pop-punk – all sounds that were present and accounted for thanks to an awesome line-up. People, myself included, couldn’t get enough.
Just a reminder, San Antonio’s Local Music Week is just seven days away! Last year set the bar really high for turnout and enthusiasm, so make sure to spread the word about the festivities to your friends and family this time around. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to catch your favorite bands as well as some you may not have heard of yet. This is a community supported effort - there is no single corporation or company that overwhelmingly benefits monetarily or otherwise. LMW 2012 is about generating awareness about SATX’s music scene and bringing in individuals that wouldn’t normally think to make it out to shows. So bring in those outsiders and most of all, have fun because it’s a celebration!
See y’all on Thursday with our list of shows for the weekend.

Hope you had a fun almost-tornado this week! Thirsty Thursday is upon us, which means SATX Music has a fresh new live music Roundup to get your weekend started right.
On Friday, San Antonio-based The Lost Project will host their debut album release at Hi-Tones - the Strip’s newest darling - with support from Bite Lip Bleed, Heather Go Psycho and The Bandulus (Austin). The Lost Project are flooding the streets with free-download cards for their debut EP. If you haven’t been lucky enough to get one, head over to the band’s Facebook page for frequent updates about how to get it starting tomorrow. We’ll be sharing our thoughts about their indie dream-pop project next week - stay tuned!
Local Music week is just around the corner! Take this chance to really get involved in the city’s music scene. Whether you’re a musician, venue, promoter, fan or none of the above, Local 782 can use your help to spread the word about its week-long effort.
From April 1-7, you’ll have the opportunity to attend a slew of free shows and events to promote home-grown artistry. Make it a point to see an act you’ve been curious about, share your favorite local band’s album on Facebook and Twitter, and mention the cause to your family and co-workers.
And when you do, do us a solid and mention SATX Music’s event listings as a valuable resource for finding information about local shows. We feature all genres, so there’s something for everyone, and you can be sure the specifics are thorough and up-to-date.
Remember you can always submit events, and feel free to ask questions or give feedback. SATX Music is also chillin’ over on Facebook, Twitter and ReverbNation.
