Ben Cina (Denton, TX): Facebook
Neo-soul indie artist Ben Cina simply wants to create and share good music. His soulful, instrument-driven sound exudes timeless, undeniable talent that V.I.P. Music Group recognized. Harnessing and propelling that talent requires industry smarts and dedication to the game, both of which are V.I.P. priorities.
From the actual recording and production at V.I.P.’s impressive studio to artist development, booking, graphic design and promotion, V.I.P. keeps their clients active in the scene while preserving artistic integrity. The advantages to this streamlined approach are obvious and undeniable. Without the weight of managing a multitude of particulars, musicians have more time to focus on their artistic process.
Chief Mastering Engineer Kurt Wipfli is a powerful force behind V.I.P. A mile-long resume of hit tracks (Nelly’s “Country Grammar,” Shaggy’s “Hot Shot,” and “Who Let The Dogs Out” by the Baha Men) speak to Wipfli’s talent and connections. Another power player on the team is company founder Rob Bass, who wears many different hats including Producer, Director of A&R Urban and V.P. of Operations for the facility. Bass boasts production and songwriting credits with artists such as Mojoe, Lil Keke, S1, Question and Lil Flip. The only studio in the area to offer recording with Pro Tools HD, quality over quantity is the name of the game at V.I.P.
Cina appreciates the personal attention that he receives as part of the V.I.P. experience. Former student of UNT’s acclaimed jazz program in Denton and veteran of live performance, Cina plays at bars and venues across Texas. His debut EP, The Spiritual Progress, was released in the summer of 2010. Propelled by a developing partnership with V.I.P., the up and comer is looking to make his mark on the scene in San Antonio. A successful set at Limelight in February highlighted Cina’s ability to move a crowd with original songs and charismatic presence.
The approachable attitude and intuitive pooling of resources at V.I.P. has been a magnet for cultivating local talent. By packaging all the services an artist needs in-house, the crew is on a mission to provide an open-minded atmosphere where artists can flourish.
