About SATX Music
SATX Music is an independent media and event-management company dedicated to supporting San Antonio’s dynamic music scene. By working with musicians, promoters, venues, organizations and media partners, SATX Music creates valuable resources for the community including a daily, comprehensive calendar of the city’s live music events. Publishing original and user-generated content, SATX Music features some of the best and most buzzed about local musicians on multiple social platforms. SATX Music’s live productions give artists and labels from a variety of genres the opportunity to showcase their talent to an engaged local audience.
Mission: Since launching in February 2011, the SATX Music mission has been to help local artists generate buzz around their music, creating more opportunities to connect with fans, while contributing to the growth of San Antonio’s music scene. SATX Music welcomes submissions and tips from the community, and strives to make collaboration within the city’s industry easier and more effective.
Kim Johnson
Our executive editor Kim Johnson studied Communication and Spanish as an undergrad at Trinity University, and New Media as a graduate student at the University of Texas at Austin. She has worked at the San Antonio Current, San Antonio Magazine, and in Austin with the mobile-tech company 3Seventy and in the news department of NPR-affiliated radio station KUT. In addition to spending a trillion hours a week on SATX Music’s calendar, she also writes freelance and dabbles in graphic design.
Libby Day
Our director of operations is Libby Day. She is a graduate of Trinity University (BA in Urban Design and Environmental Policy) with a background in administration, project management, and community organizing. She keeps us on track, aids in community outreach, and serves as the catch-all.
Walter Montesinos
Walter Montesinos is currently attending the University of Texas at San Antonio for a BA in Marketing and interns for SATX Music. Walter is originally from Houston, where he first started distributing and spreading the music of local artist and friend, Van Solo. He enjoyed this so much that he decided he would love to help other local musicians reach higher grounds. With SATX Music’s dedication and his determination, who knows what will be accomplished!
